MAKING SOMETHING OUT OF NOTHING - The EDITORIAL & GOOGLE

On October 8th 2015, Materials & Methods transformed a gray concrete parking garage into an unexpected auditorium; with stage, seating and a projected stage surround mapped to the architectural detail of the structure.

The event was hosted by Google at their headquarters in Cambridge, and started with a cocktail hour inside the Google lounge - but rather than sending the audience to the auditorium - they were directed to proceed outside, down to the garage where they encountered the unexpected.  The space had been transformed from a barren garage to an engaging digital environment.

The Materials & Methods team managed the entire production through to execution. This included content creation, projection mapping, staging, lighting and immersive sound, as well as interior projection for the closing reception following the lecture.  The Editorial event was hosted by Google and was featured as one of the weeks highlights for HUBweek 2015.

We were challenged by Heidi Legg of The Editorial to think outside the box and create a space that embodied the concept of her provocative panel discussion titled "Creating Something out of Nothing.” This panel discussion featured entrepreneurs from the greater Boston area, discussing the process of how they conceptualize, develop and create.
